Healing individuals from sin and sometimes from physical ailment.
We read in the Gospel of Mark that Jesus sent his Apostles to pray for the sick and anoint them with oil (Mark 6:13). St. James says to us,
“Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the priests of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up.” James 5:14-15
We have our 2 parish priests available for this Sacrament.
We also have Fr. Emmanuel who is available full-time to minister at the 2 hospitals and 16 nursing homes in Council Bluffs.

Who can be Anointed?
- Baptized Catholics who can receive Sacraments
- those will serious physical ailments
- those going into surgery
- those in danger of death
- those age 65 or older dealing with the struggles of aging
Is Last Rites different than the Anointing of the Sick?
No; it is the same sacrament. However, the prayers are a bit different due to circumstances.
One does not have to be near death to be Anointed, but don’t wait until the last moments either. Give your family the consolation knowing that you received the Last Rites.
