We are honored to walk with your children on their faith journey. Our Faith Formation Program is here to support and enrich the faith development of youth, grades 1st through 7th grade, sacramental preparation for 2nd graders, as well as Confirmation preparation for 8th - 10th graders. Faith formation nights run September through April. Please choose an option below to get started with registration and to find more information.

Are you being called? The parish Faith Formation Program is seeking adults who have a deep love of their Catholic faith and are called to share it with the youth of St. Patrick Church. Those willing to commit every week or those who can help once a month are welcome, and their time and generosity is appreciated. For parents with children in the program who would want to teach as a lead catechist or assistant catechist, the child’s registration fee is waived. 

Are you willing to dedicate a few hours each week to their faith formation?  If so, please prayerfully consider one of the following positions:

• Catechists– Plan, lead, and instruct participants weekly. All Catechists are supported with resources and training from the Religious Education Staff.
• Aides– Assists the Catechist and participants with classroom activities. Supports the catechist in teaching lessons.
• Substitutes– Those willing to be called on an as-needed basis to serve as a Catechist or Aide.
• General Help– Preparing snacks, directing traffic or helping with weekly set-up.

The Faith Formation Program is active September through April, excluding holidays.  Classes are held at the church, according to the following schedule:

• Grades 1-4 meet Wednesdays, 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., with a 15-minute snack time in the social hall offered beforehand (from 5-5:15 p.m.)
• Grades 5-7 meet Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., with a 15-minute snack time in the social hall offered beforehand (from 6:15-6:30 p.m.)
• 1st and 2nd Year Confirmation Candidates will meet according to their published calendars on Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., in the social hall.

All Faith Formation Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and compliant with the Diocese of Des Moines Safe Environment Program requirements.

1st - 7th Grade Faith Formation '26-'27

Class Schedule:

• Grades 1-4 meet Wednesdays, 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., with a 15-minute snack time in the social hall offered beforehand (from 5-5:15 p.m.)

• Grades 5-7 meet Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., with a 15-minute snack time in the social hall offered beforehand (from 6:15-6:30 p.m.)

1ST & 2nd YEAR CONFIRMATION Participants '26-'27 

Confirmation Preparation is a two year program that consists of classes and service opportunities to help candidates grow in faith and prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Through prayer, scripture, discussion, and service, they learn about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the responsibilities of living as a confirmed Catholic, and the call to witness Christ in everyday life. At the end of the second year of preparation, the candidate receives the sacrament of Confirmation. Registration Deadline is Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Important Information:

• Year #1 Confirmation Candidates first initial meeting is Wednesday, September 16, 6:30 p.m., in the St. Patrick Parish Hall.
• Year #2 Confirmation Candidates first initial meeting was Wednesday, September 2, 6:30 p.m., in the St. Patrick Parish Hall.
• At the meetings reference above, information/binders will be distributed regarding this year's important dates and details on the scope and expectations of the Confirmation prep year. At least one parent is asked to accompany their child to this meeting.
