The Saint Patrick Women’s Book Club was designed to build community and to foster friendships through the reading of current Catholic or spiritual literature.
This endeavor was an outgrowth of the “Christ Renews His Parish” (CHRP) program; many of the women who are discussion leaders were involved in CRHP. The book study, however, is open to all women of the parish. Each session is 90 minutes long and opens and closes with prayer. The hostess for that session serves a light refreshment.
“Why did I join Women’s Book Club? I just moved back to CB in October after our military moves. I wanted to get involved with women of St. Pat’s and my sister told me about book club. Since I enjoy reading, it seemed like a perfect fit! I thoroughly appreciated: each book that we read, gaining better insight into my faith, sharing stories with my group and getting to know each one more, and the fact that it was okay if I didn’t finish before we met. I am a busy working mom with 3 kids still at home. I highly encourage all the ladies of the parish to consider joining a book club group; we feed our souls with new friendships”

Some of the groups meet in the leaders’ homes and others meet at alternative locations. There is no membership fee other than purchasing the bundle of five books from the club. A new group may be formed to fit the schedule; however, there are currently openings for 9 groups, meeting on different days and times.
“Joining the Book Club has been enjoyable for me. Each book we’ve read has been interesting and thought-provoking. Getting to know more fellow parishioners has definitely been a plus. I feel that we have become friends along with getting closer to God”
